The synopsis described what sounded to be a story about the vineyards in France during the era of Napolian with some mystery and romance included. I cannot in any way describe this book as “gripping”. I found the writing to be confusing, rereading parts but often not understanding what the author was trying to say. Descriptions of the people, the land, events were excessive and repetitive. I have skimmed several chapters, trying to get to details as described in the synopsis. I probably will give up the struggle to finish this book. A term used in describing the body of wine. Enjoyed this tale of a widowed wife and mother fighting against all odds to make a success of the winery her and her husband loved. With the help of trustworthy friends she did just that. Really makes want to have a glass of wine! Good story!
